Organize
I went to London Drugs at 10 am to get some storage bins. They were on sale 2 for $10! I figured, since I'm doing all this cleaning I might as well organize some stuff at the same time. I used the bins to store all my fall/winter sweaters, so that they don't get dusty (it's amazing how much dust accumulates). I think I might have to go back to London Drugs to buy a couple more bins to store some other stuff.

And the winner is...
Yay! Miss Canada won the Miss Universe Pageant last night. I was actually rooting for someone else (I won't say who). I know, it doesn't sound that patriotic of me, but when you've seen pageant after pageant, and Miss Canada doesn't win (or even make it to the top 15), you start to think that it's never going to happen. I'm glad that she won. Irma, doesn't she remind you of Magda (from Mexico)?

Spring Cleaning... Round 5 6
You'd think by this time, I'd be done cleaning. But no. For me, there's always something to clean. So yesterday afternoon, I decided to go through some stuff that was in storage. I managed to get rid of 95% of my stuff I stored in there. I can't believe that I actually had stuff from junior high and high school (old notes, books, etc). I also had stuff from post-secondary, and I got rid of it too. I don't know why I kept all this stuff? I guess I thought that I would at some point need it for reference, but obviously not.

OK, so what's next on the cleaning list?

Project 95% complete
I'm making invitations for my daughter's upcoming birthday and I'm almost done. I've been working on it, on and off, for the past 2 weeks. And I'm impressed at how they turned out. Who knows, I might start doing this as a side job ;)

More errands
I did a few more errands yesterday morning:

  • went to the bank to sign some papers
  • 2nd attempt at paying my daughter's summer camp fees - no luck
  • went to Ikea to buy a mat for my daughter's activity center
  • went to Superstore to buy some baby food

I seem to be doing a lot more things nowadays...

Warmer weather means...
... ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream!! What can I say? It's ice cream season for me. Earlier I had vanilla ice cream with a raspberry pinot noir sauce (fancy name for raspberry chocolate sauce :P), and now I just finished a piece of ice cream cake. MMMMM! I'm still debating if I should have another slice...

Car seat issues
I finally decided to put in my daughter's new car seat (which we got a couple months ago) in my car. I replaced her infant seat with this one, only to find out that there was a small problem. When I put the car seat behind the passenger seat, it wasn't secure. Even though it was attached using UAS, the car seat still seemed to wobble. I tried moving the passenger seat as far back as possible to kind of lock it in place, but that didn't work. I ended up putting the car seat in the middle of the back seat, so that the back of the car seat (it has to be rear-facing until she's 30 lbs) is supported by both front seats. Does that make any sense? Anyway, it worked. Her car seat is secure, but it kind of blocks my view when I shoulder check. Thus brings me to my next point...

I'm thinking of getting a newer car
[another item on my out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new list]

Not a brand new one, but a newer model. At first I thought of getting a newer Mazda3 with a sunroof, but with this car seat issue, I might have to go for the Mazda6. Of course, I'll have to hold off until I go back to work and make a bit more $$. Which reminds me, I need to get the inside of my car cleaned.

Speaking of clean car
I decided to wash it today. I started to clean all the windows on the inside (it's amazing how dirty the insides of the windows get), and noticed that the car was pretty dusty. So I washed it and now it's all clean. Well, as clean as I can get it for now...

My kind of logic...
[from an email a friend of mine sent me]

Can't eat Beef ... mad cow
Can't eat chicken ... bird flu
Can't eat eggs ... Salmonella
Can't eat pork ... fears that bird flu will infect piggies
Can't eat fish ... heavy metals in the waters has poisoned their meat
Can't eat fruits and veggies ... insecticides and herbicides
Hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that leaves Chocolate!!!!!!!!

Chocolate is a Vegetable
  • Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans. Bean = vegetable.
  • Sugar is derived from either sugar cane or sugar BEETS.
  • Both of them are plants, in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.
  • To go one step further, chocolate candy bars also contain milk, which is dairy. So candy bars are a health food.
  • Chocolate-covered raisins, cherries, orange slices and strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want.

One ringy dingy...two ringy dingy...
[Does anyone remember this saying from Lily Tomlin on Laugh-In? Or am I just that old? Nevermind, don't answer that. :P]

I made quite a few phone calls this morning:

  • booked my annual physical
  • called daughter's pediatrician to make sure blood test results came back OK - and it did
  • booked a massage for July (I know it's 2 months away, but I wanted to use it before I go back to work)
  • called the pharmacy to notify them of my address and phone number change.

It doesn't seem like a lot, but it's more than what I'm used to.

And one more makes 17...
Yes, I bought my daughter another pair of shoes. How could I resist with her 10-month birthday coming up tomorrow (I can't believe she's already 10 months!)? Plus, they went with the outfit I bought her too! :P

Errands
I had a few things to do today:

  • went to the bank
  • went to pay for daughter's summer camp, but no one was around (will have to pay them next week)
  • went to a different bank to give them a copy of my notice of assessment to process my loan application
  • went to Winners to remove the security tag they forgot to take off yesterday (funny how the alarm didn't go off when I left the store?)
  • went to Jysk to look for a rug for Teagan's activity center (so she has something a bit softer to step on), but didn't find anything
  • went to Wal-Mart to buy an underbed box for Teagan's clothes; and bought myself a Kit-Kat

I was also planning to wash the car, but it looked like it was going to rain. But it didn't. So I'll have to wash it another day.

Spring Cleaning... Round 5
Hmmm, you'd think I'm in some kind of boxing match or something ["In this corner, me... in that corner, closet & bins full of clothes..." :P]. Anyway, last night I got rid of a few more items (2 tops, a skirt, a suit jacket, and a purse). It seems the more I go through all my stuff, the more I find things I want to get rid of. If I keep this up, I might just have to get myself a new wardrobe! ;P

Haircut
It's been 5 months since I last got my haircut and let me tell you it feels so much better now that it's a lot shorter (shoulder length vs. mid-back). Most, if not all, of the curls from my perm (from a year and a half ago - who would've thought a perm would last that long) have been cut off. So now I'm left with layers and it's way easier to manage.

Consider this as one of many things on my "out-with-the-old-in-with-the-new" list.

16 pairs of shoes
In 10 months time, my daughter has accumulated 16 pairs of shoes. Hmmm, do you think she has a shoe fetish? I wonder where she gets that from?! :P

At the rate she's going, she'll have about 38 pairs of shoes by the time she's 2!

Spring Cleaning... Round 4
I went through my closet again in the hopes of making more room. Not because I bought anything, but because I want to simplify things. So this time I got rid of 6 sweaters, 9 tops, 3 pairs of pants, a skirt, a dress, and about 7 or 8 bags/purses. I managed to make more room, only to fill again. :P

It's only fitting...
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky
And I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change
And break away
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget all the ones that I love
I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change
And break away
[from Kelly Clarkson's "Break Away"]
